This is a question that I get a lot, and it's one that I'm always happy to answer. How long to cook whole chicken? The answer, of course, depends on a few factors.

First, you need to determine the size of the chicken. A three-pound chicken will take about an hour to cook, while a five-pound chicken will take about an hour and a half.
Second, you need to decide whether you want to cook the chicken whole or cut it up into pieces. If you're cutting it up, you'll need to factor in additional cooking time.
Third, you need to think about how you're going to cook the chicken. Are you going to roast it, bake it, or fry it?
Roasting is the quickest method, and it's also the method that produces the juiciest chicken. However, it's important to keep an eye on the chicken while it's roasting, as it can dry out quickly.
Baking is a bit slower than roasting, but it's a good option if you're not planning on eating the chicken right away. Baked chicken will stay moist longer, so it's a good option if you're making ahead.
Frying is the slowest method, but it's also the one that produces the crispiest skin. If you're planning on serving the chicken immediately, frying is the way to go.
Once you've decided how you're going to cook the chicken, it's time to get started. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
If you're roasting the chicken, place it in a roasting pan and season it with salt, pepper, and any other herbs or spices you like. Roast the chicken for about an hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
If you're baking the chicken, place it in a baking dish and season it with salt, pepper, and any other herbs or spices you like. Bake the chicken for about 45 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
If you're frying the chicken, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan and heat it until it's hot. Add the chicken to the pan and cook it for about eight minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
Once the chicken is cooked, let it rest for a few minutes before carving or serving. Enjoy!
